Study carried out at the request of the Ministry of Transport of Chile (www.mtt.gob.cl) with the aim of proposing a set of regulations and design criteria for Truck Reat Areas on roads. The purpose was to provide the necessary infrastructure, equipment and services in future road projects to transport users to achieve consistency and harmony with labor regulations on breaks and safety policies promoted by the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications.

The proposed criteria covered aspects such as the design of the rest areas, the services with which it is necessary or desirable to have and their standards and regulations of their operation, operation and use.

This was based on a diagnosis of the current situation of the regulatory framework, seen from the perspective of the requirements declared by the users (truck drivers) and the international experience in reference countries.
