Juan Pablo Vial is one of the founding partners of ITrace. He studied Industrial Civil Engineering at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile with a minor in Transportation and Logistics and is also an ISO 9001 Accredited Auditor. He is a senior executive with global experience in business management, product/service development, management of work teams in complex and global organizations, establishing commitments with industry and governments. He has extensive experience in important companies around the world as an international supply chain, visibility, traceability and recall consultant.
Professional experience
He worked as Traceability Manager at Fundación Chile, then as Solution Manager at GS1 Chile and as Traceability Manager at GS1 Global Office in Brussels where he had to design and implement the GS1 Global Traceability Programme, training the GS1 offices throughout the world and raising awareness about the GS1's Global Traceability Standard with the main players in the food industry worldwide.
Implemented identification, tagging, visibility, traceability and recall systems in more than 90 companies worldwide. He has also worked as a consultant for important organizations such as FAO and IICA working on traceability, as well as working in conjunction with the Chilean Agency for Food Safety and Quality (ACHIPIA), the Ministry of Health of Chile and the Ministry of Agriculture of Chile establishin traceability requirements in the Chilean Food Sanitary Regulations.
In addition, he is a constant reviewer of traceability guidelines and standards, highlighting among others the GS1 Global Traceability Standard, the GS1 traceability guide for fresh production in 2009 and the USA Meat & Poultry Traceability Guide in 2010. During 2012 participated as a reviewer of the report prepared to the FDA "IFT Product Tracing Pilots Report" whose conclusions have served for the modification of the US Food Safety Modernization Act
